Sittin' in a ... old Monte Carlo...

So... I performed. I had a blast and I loved the sense of community that was present on Thursday night at our studio's Student Showcase at Swan Dive.

Performance Outfit.

-Leotard $33 from discountdancesupply.com

-Bra $50 from Ivy Park (don't worry, I've had this bra for a while and use it for class regularly.)

-Shorts ?? Compression shorts from Old Navy are about $20.

Event Poster.

As I am watching my performance back (for the like 30th time) I keep thinking about all the things that were running through my head during the performance.  I'll let you watch before I share. Lol. Song: Desparado by Rihanna.

A few of them were:

At: 0:05 seconds, I was trying to cheat step so I could get on the right foot.

At 0:12, I was listening to the crowd gas me up, which made me pop a little harder. 😂

At 0:21, all I heard in my head was one of my pole teachers' advise to keep your head close to the pole when doing a pirouette into a spin.

At 0:47, I was thinking, "this is the ugliest crawl ever. I should have thought of a different transition."

At 0:57, I thought, "Please Mr. Pole, just let me hit this next sequence, then I will leave you alone."

At 1:14, I was desperately searching for the floor. Glad to be half way done.

At 1:48, I thought "next time I'm doing the one handed rockstar spin that was planned."

At 1:53, I smiled because I was like "I'm almost DONEEEEEEEE."

At 2:04 I was like, "Nooooo, my hood didn't stay up, but at least it's Ovverrrr."

After I walked back to my seat, my lungs temporarily decided to oust some flem that had taken up residence in my chest, so I ended up coughing up a storm WHILE trying to catch my breath.

Nevertheless, this performance felt GOOD because I hit a new skill in a performance. I am also glad that I was able to vibe with the music more and just really enjoy putting on a show. I am so appreciative of the opportunities to express myself in a public forum and to be able to share my choreography and creativity with people willing to watch. Performing is like a drug, and I can't wait to take my next hit. In the meantime, I'm going to watch my performance back a few times and self critique because I'm super anal and a perfectionist. Hahaha!

The next performance, things get real- as I take every thing up a notch for a whole new crew. Should be fun. 🤗
